Overcoming anxiety – a prayer of St Theresa of Avila

I’m in week 5 of my Ignatian prayer adventure, a beautiful online retreat that has quieted and calmed my soul. Here is a beautiful prayer of St Teresa of Avila that was part of my daily reflection today on the story of Martha and Mary. Sometimes, I let my mind and worries reflect the anxiety and worries of Martha. It is so refreshing to be like her sister Mary, basking in the words of Jesus. Sitting comfortably at His feet.

A Prayer by St. Teresa of Ávila

Let nothing disturb you,
Nothing frighten you;
All things are passing;
God never changes;
Patient endurance attains all things;
Whoever possesses God is wanting in nothing;
God alone suffices.
