His Plan for me

You probably don’t see it fully now, but your life is woven into the tapestry of God’s perfect plan for the world. So don’t get caught up in minor squabbles. Don’t let small concerns become sources of deep anxiety. Instead, take a broader look at your life and know that your God has great things planned for you.

“Thank you, Lord, for the beauty of your plan! I trust in your wisdom and in the way you are forming me.”

An excerpt from today’s meditation from The Word Among us Magazine, on the birthday of our Blessed Virgin Mary, 8 Sept 2020

Praying for you today

“For He will give his angels
charge over you, to guard you in all your ways” Psalm 91 verse 11

“Lord, please bless and heal this person, and may your love and protection be upon them and their families always”

Today I wanted to share some reflections and excepts with you from the Word Among us Magazine on the need, the power and the beauty of praying for others.

“Intercession may be a very important form of prayer, but we need to remember that all prayer originates with Jesus, not with us.

When a need strikes us, whether we see that need in the world, the Church, our neighborhood, or our family, we can be confident that this need is on Jesus’ own heart. He is the One who has opened our eyes to it and has moved us to pray for this need to be met.

Sometimes we clearly know what to pray for: “Heal this sickness, Lord.” “Let food aid get to this starving child.” “Give me the strength to make the right decision.” But at other times we don’t know how to pray; we just sense that something is wrong and that we need to take action.

The best thing we can do in these situations is to place them in God’s hands and ask him to act in whatever way he knows is best.

Intercessory prayer is a beautiful way to work with the harvest master, but it’s not the only way. As we pray for people, we can also ask, “Lord, is there something you want me to do for him or her?”

Jesus loves it when we bring people’s needs before him. It shows that we aren’t concerned only for ourselves. It shows that our vision is broadening to the world around us and that our hearts are becoming more like his.

Jesus loves it even more when we roll up our sleeves and try to help the people we are praying for—because that’s exactly what he did for us. It may not always be easy. It may cost us some of our time and energy. But at the same time, it is very rewarding to work alongside Jesus, the master of the harvest.

“Jesus, thank you for the needs you are laying on my heart. Help me find the courage to take action as well.”

Bless our work today

A prayer and some intercessions taken from today’s Liturgy of the hours. May our good Lord bless your work today and always!

Let us begin this new day with Christ, thanking him for all he has brought to us, and asking him to bless us.
Lord, accept and bless our work today.
You offered yourself to the Father on our behalf:
join our offering with yours.
Lord, accept and bless our work today.
You are gentle and humble of heart:
teach us to receive others as you did.
Lord, accept and bless our work today.
As each day begins, may your light rise in our hearts;
may it shine forth in charity to the world.
Lord, accept and bless our work today.
Show your mercy to those who are sick:
may each new day increase their trust in you.
Lord, accept and bless our work today.

Many, the troubles of the just man, but out of them all, the Lord delivers him.

PSALM 34

R. The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
or R. Alleluia.

I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Taste and see how good the Lord is;
blessed the man who takes refuge in him. R.
The Lord confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the Lord hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them. R.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
Many are the troubles of the just man,
but out of them all the Lord
delivers him. R.

Thank you Lord, for this timely reminder, taken from the book of Psalms within the daily readings of mass for today.

A prayer for protection

Psalm 91

May our good Lord grant us the grace to trust in Him. And May this prayer of protection, from Psalm 91, cover you and your families with peace and blessing.

The gift of today

Our view from the verandah of our Mt Kynoch home after an afternoon well spent dreaming dreams, sharing lives, planning plans..

The Lord has thoughtfully crafted each and every sunset, each and every afternoon.

I often forget to thank Him for crafting my life, and don’t realise how much He is truly present in each and every moment of my day.

“The heavens proclaim your wonders, O LORD,
and your faithfulness, in the assembly of the holy ones.

For who in the skies can rank with the LORD?
Who is like the LORD among the sons of God?

Psalms 89: 6-7

To Fully Become

…Go beyond yourself

… Trust and rely on God’s strength and grace

… God has a purpose for your life. Be open,act on it and trust God.

I opened my bible tonight and read the scribbles on the front pages.. I had written a few words that came to me  in Maryland USA in October 2009 at the National Shrine of America, where my mom gifted me with an Ignatian RSV, brown leather bible. This gift, and the words that came to my spirit that day, is alive more than 8 years later, and is still bringing me hope.

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is?

Tonight I prayed to the Lord for understanding and clarity.. He gave me these words from the book of Proverbs. We should often pray for the gift of wisdom to help us understand and follow our purpose in the ‘duty of the present moment”.

PROVERBS 2:1-181

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding: yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search or it as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart. and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;discretion will watch over you; understanding will guide you…

Peace, and Wisdom be with us always as we entrust our lives to His care.
