Relationships
God offers the greatest of relationships
What is the essence of being a Christian? It is certainly more than doctrine, precepts, and commandments. It is first and foremost a relationship – a relationship of trust, affection, commitment, loyalty, faithfulness, kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, mercy, helpfulness, encouragement, support, strength, protection, and so many other qualities that bind people together in mutual love and unity. God offers us the greatest of relationships – union of heart, mind, and spirit with himself, the very author and source of love (1 John 4:8,16).
God’s love never fails, never forgets, never compromises, never lies, never lets us down nor disappoints us. His love is consistent, unwavering, unconditional, unrelenting and unstoppable. There is no end to his love. Nothing in this world can make him leave us, ignore us, or withhold from us his merciful love and care (Romans 8:31-39). He will love us no matter what. It is his nature to love. That is why he created us – to be united with him and to share in his love (1 John 3:1).

I’ve been playing this song in my car as of late.. it’s been playing a lot on my mind well..
The song is “Buses and Trains” by Bachelor Girl..
Buses and Trains” is the debut single by Australian pop band Bachelor Girl. Released in June 1998 as the first single from the band’s debut album, Waiting for the Day. The song peaked at number 4 on the ARIA Charts
Having three daughters, and a daughter myself to an amazing mother, the song strikes chord in my heart and I found myself asking if I’ve done enough to prepare my daughters for life.
One thing is for sure. We are also daughters of our Blessed Virgin Mary.
She has us covered. And whether we do run under a bus, or get hit by a train..go fallin in love (which is kind of the same…) Our Lady has been there, is always with us and will keep is in her mantle of protection.
Our Lady helps us become better mothers and daughters.. Helps us in our weakness and temptations, showing us the way to Jesus, the source of our Joy, and peace.

The gift of today

The Lord has thoughtfully crafted each and every sunset, each and every afternoon.
I often forget to thank Him for crafting my life, and don’t realise how much He is truly present in each and every moment of my day.

An Easter Prayer taken from the Liturgy of the Hours, Easter Season
God our Father, by raising Christ, your Son you conquered the power of death and opened for us the way to eternal life.
Let our celebration today raise us up and renew our lives, by the Spirit that is within us.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, Amen.

Today, I reflect on the goodness, mercy and wisdom of God. When we are weak, we are unable to see things from His perspective.
The other day I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, a bit sad and vulnerable. I thought Id bring these feelings to the Lord. I had a sense to ask myself where these feelings were coming from, and narrowed them to envy and pride.
I them remembered that Jesus carried so much more and bore all out of His Love for us and Our Father. Ought I try not do the same? A feeling of peace and joy overcame me.
“Trust in Him, and He will make your ways (and thoughts) straight… again.
Let us all be blessed in the knowledge that He is always with us in good times and in bad.
God cares for all the needs of those who follow Him..
Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is in the Lord. He is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream: It fears not the heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; In the year of drought it shows no distress, but still bears fruit.God cares for all the needs of those who follow him. Lord, God of hosts, happy is the man who trusts in you.”
I chanced on this beautiful verse from Jeremiah in the Liturgy of Hours (IV) during my Tuesday afternoon stay at the Blessed Sacrament at the Sacred Heart church. As I sit before the Lord each week, it is a tremendous blessing to Seek..Listen.. Renew and find Peace.
