Wisdom to guide our way

Colossians 1:9-11

Through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding, may you reach the fullest knowledge of God’s will. So you will be able to lead the kind of life which the Lord expects of you, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects; showing the results in all the good actions you do and increasing your knowledge of God. You will have in you the strength, based on his own glorious power, never to give in, but to bear anything joyfully.

My prayer:

May the Lord bless our life with wisdom, joy and faith in the knowledge that He is with us to guide and bless us every step of the way.

Listen to Him

Matthew 17:1-9

“Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”

On todays feast of the Transfiguration, I take heart in knowing that Jesus is here with us, in our tents, in our workplaces, in our homes.

I pray that He grant us the grace, and desire to spend some time each day and listen to Him.

Finding my mission in Christ

What is a Mission?
If you say that you have a mission, you mean that you have a strong commitment and sense of duty to do or achieve something (Wikipedia)

My daughter Ana asked me to speak at a Veritas group event. Veritas is a group of likeminded people searching for, loving and learning about God, supported by the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba. I wanted to share my journey in Christ, and how He has blessed me on my mission and desire to live a life of faith, family, education and service.

During this personal life sharing , I will share 3 ways that have helped me find my personal mission in Christ, and some verses from scripture that have helped me reflect on the importance of each.

The Three ways: Listen, Love, Faith

1. LISTEN..

The benefits of Wisdom

Proverbs 2:9 “My child, listen to what I say and treasure my commands.

Turn your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding

Cry out for insight

And ask for understanding

Search for them as you would for silver and seek them like hidden treasures.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.

For the Lord grants wisdom!

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.

He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to Him.

Then you will understand what is right, just and fair, and you will find the right way to go”

2. LOVE..

Ephesians 5:1 Living in the Light

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us (you) and offered himself as a sacrifice for us (you) , a pleasing aroma to God.

John 15:12 This is my commandment. Love each other, in the same way I have loved you.

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that my father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: love each other.

Zephaniah 3:17 For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty saviour, He will take delight in you with gladness, with His love, He will calm all your fears”

3. Trust

Proverbs 3: 1 My Child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many yers and your life will be satisfying,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your understanding, seek His will in all your do and He will show you which path to take.

Courage, grace and faith

Here is another great reflection from todays gospel and the Word Among us. God reassures us time and time again, as he did with the apostle Paul, that we can take courage in and amidst everything happening around us and being open to his call is the best response when we are anxious or worried about our journey or the future!

Here is that excerpt from todays reflection in the Word among us magazine:

“Jesus’ words can echo to us as well, wherever we are. If you are a young person anxiously contemplating your future, Jesus says, “Take courage, I know where you will be.” If you are a parent worried about your child, Jesus says, “Take courage, I am with your child.” If your spouse is confronting a difficult health diagnosis, Jesus tells you, “Take courage, I will not abandon you.” No matter who you are, Jesus says, “I know the future, and I will be with you.”

Jesus’ words may not diminish the gravity of your situation or change your circumstances, but they do carry grace. This grace gives you strength and the reassurance that God’s hand is on your life. It tells you that Someone who loves you with unfathomable love is walking with you through all the uncertainty.

Today, let Jesus speak these words to you. Ask him to fill you with grace, to encourage you, and to strengthen and comfort you. Whatever you are facing, whatever uncertainties lie ahead, take courage. Jesus is your strength. He holds your future in his hands.

“Jesus, help me to have courage to face the uncertainties ahead.”

Psalm 16:1-2, 5, 7-11
John 17:20-26

Keep safe, and take courage everyone! Our Lord is with us on every leg of our journey. 🌿☀️

Go Forth

I wonder what this new chapter will bring? Lord, please fill the blank pages with you your love, guidance, awareness, service and joy as I navigate your will for my life 🌿

Jeremiah 7:23-28 (or Exodus 17:1-7)

Thus says the Lord: This is what I commanded my people: Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. Walk in all the ways that I command you, so that you may prosper.

Our Protector – our guardian

Psalm 120

I lift my eyes to the mountains, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Blessed to be able to reflect on this beautiful psalm from todays mid day Liturgy of the hours, in the beautiful, nature filled place in front of one of the spectacular glass house mountains. Thinking of and praying for you all today! 🌿

The hidden path

I found the excerpt below so very comforting and true. We don’t often see beyond the difficult path, the uneven road – blocked by doubt, uncertainty, anxiety, pain or difficulty. But with the eyes of faith and the by the grace of God, we can be assured that there are always crystal clear waters ahead, and that we will find the peace, joy, assurance and security that is found in His face, his guidance and presence in our lives. God is always near to us. With Him, we are made whole.

Blessing at work in my heart!

These beautiful words were taken from “The Word Among Us” magazine today. This reflection resounded with me, after having recently survived an accident that left me physically, mentally and emotionally unharmed, but spiritually reflective. What matters most in my life? Have I been living it to my fullest potential? What am I wasting time on and where do I need to focus? I hope that you find your purpose too, and like me today, are thankful for every day that we get to see and experience!

Lord, give me the ‘prosperity . . . like a river’ that you promise (Isaiah 48:18). Let the riches of your mercy wash over me again and again, like the waves of the sea. Help me to trust that I have been restored to you and that my name will never be blotted out from your presence. As you did for the Israelites, give me confidence and trust that as I listen and follow, I will receive the blessings of your life at work in my heart.”
